Passengers are always on the lookout for ways to make their flight experience more comfortable.
It’s a well-known fact among frequent flyers that legroom is often scarce, comfort can be elusive, and getting stuck in the middle seat might mean a cramped journey ahead.
Travellers hope for considerate seat neighbours and aim to find that sweet spot of comfort to endure the flight.
For some, achieving a bit of relaxation means sliding their feet under the seat in front or reclining their chair slightly provided the person behind doesn’t mind.
Yet, a controversial seating position has gone viral on social media, sparking a unanimous outcry over its appropriateness.
A TikTok user, @twincoast, caused quite a stir with her post captioned: “Ok but why is this soooo comfy. TRY IT”, showcasing her unconventional way of sitting on a plane.
In her demonstration, she places both feet on the seat, pulling her knees up to her chest, and secures the seatbelt around her lower legs. She ends the nine-second video with a satisfied smile, having found a seemingly more comfortable seating arrangement.
But the reaction to her ‘hack’ was far from positive, as viewers swarmed the comments section to express a shared sentiment of disapproval.
While a few were curious about the woman’s choice of footwear, the majority expressed shock at the thought of someone placing their shod feet on the fabric of the seat.
“Keep your shoes off the seat”, one irate passenger wrote, with another echoing the sentiment, stating: “Shoes on the seat..”
Another passenger commented: “I saw some girl do this and the flight attendant said ‘ma’am I’m going to have to ask you to sit properly please”.
“Would you want to sit on the same seat that someone had their shoes on it after going to the washroom? “, another TikToker vented. While another questioned: “What will that do for you in turbulence?”.
