We’re still awaiting a decision from Will Riley, but in the meantime, he’s made a change to his list.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Riley has cut Arkansas and replaced the Hogs with Illinois, one of the schools he visited last week alongside Kentucky and Alabama.
Riley is also considering Arizona and the New Zealand Breakers of the NBL.
After last week’s flurry of visits, Riley has now visited Arizona, Illinois, Kentucky, and Alabama. The 6-foot-8 small forward is ranked 10th nationally in the class of 2025 by On3. However, Riley is strongly considering a reclassification into 2024, which is why he’s already visited his top contenders.
It seemed like a decision was imminent from Riley once the trip to Alabama concluded, but the fact that Riley is taking the time to alter his list suggests we still may be a few more weeks away from a possible commitment and a decision on whether he’ll reclass or remain in 2025.
Given Kentucky’s current roster and lack of clear playing time, you have to wonder if the Cats are hoping Riley stays in 2025. Otherwise, schools like Arizona and Illinois are offering a much more clear path to significant playing time next season.
