Warnings have been issued this weekend due to severe weather and a number of football games up and down the country have been postponed as a result.
Several areas of the UK have been hit by amber weather warnings after snow and freezing rain overnight.
Runways at Manchester and Liverpool airports were closed on Sunday morning while teams worked to clear the snow.
The Met Office warned ice would be a hazard in places across the UK throughout Sunday, leading to concerns over the state of pitches and fan safety.
Chesterfield’s League Two clash with Gillingham became the first EFL casualty on Sunday morning, with Fleetwood Town v Wimbledon soon following suit.
‘Following a pitch inspection, this afternoon’s fixture against Gillingham has been postponed,’ Chesterfield posted on social media. ‘A new date will be announced in due course.’
Fleetwood, meanwhile, said: ‘Due to the fitness of the pitch and surrounding area due to heavy snowfall on the Fylde Coast during Saturday night into Sunday morning a call was made in consultation with the EFL and PGMOL.’
Several women’s games have also been cancelled, including the FA Cup third-round clash between Nottingham Forest and Burnley, with more fixtures across the country likely to be affected in the coming hours.

There were fears the huge Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield could be affected but the clubs confirmed the fixture would ‘go ahead as planned’ after safety meetings around the stadium.
‘Today’s fixture against Manchester United will go ahead as planned,’ they said in a statement around four and a half hours before kick-off at 4.30pm.
‘Two safety meetings were held earlier to assess the weather and travel conditions. We thank everyone involved in helping us to get this game on today.
‘If you’re travelling to Anfield then please take extra care. We look forward to seeing you there.’
The League Two game between Newport County and Morecambe was also subject to a midday inspection but in this case the weather won and a postponement was announced.
‘Following a 12pm pitch inspection, the referee has deemed small areas of the pitch unplayable despite the best efforts of the ground staff to get the game on,’ a statement read.
On Saturday, Cheltenham Town’s League Two clash against Walsall was postponed along with a number of non-league games.
Multiple games were also called off up in Scotland, including Greenock Morton vs Hamilton Academical in the Championship.
Elsewhere, the All-Ireland club football semi-final between Dr Crokes and Errigal Ciaran scheduled for Sunday has been postponed until next weekend after a pitch inspection.
Further postponements will be posted as and when they are announced.
