There have been major changes in the SEC, highlighted by John Calipari leaving for Arkansas and the Kentucky Wildcats replacing him with Mark Pope. There have been other movements, but those were the major ones.
Now, we’re getting a look at the way-too-early SEC basketball power rankings via 247 Sports.
Kentucky comes in at No. 7 out of the 16 teams in the SEC, so they are coming in the middle of the pack. The reasoning why 247 has Kentucky at No. 7 is due to the talent they still need to add. They believe Kentucky has added a lot of players who can shoot and defend.
Some of the shooters include Kerr Kriisa, Koby Brea, and Andrew Carr. As for the defense, Kentucky has Lamont Butler, Otega Oweh, Amari Williams, and Brandon Garrison.
Through those additions, Kentucky has a seven-man rotation they can use, but 247 believes Kentucky is a player or two away from being frontrunners in the SEC.
Luckily for Pope, the Cats are still in the running for Chaz Lanier and Jaxson Robinson. For Kentucky to take the next step, they need to at least land one of the two players.
