Kentucky’s Mark Pope on loss to Arkansas: ‘Tonight … was super painful’
Full after-game news conference for Kentucky’s Mark Pope about the 89-79 loss to Arkansas.
Words can hardly describe the extent to which Kentucky basketball has lorded over Ole Miss. The teams meet again tonight at The Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi, with the Wildcats owning a staggering 111-14 advantage in the all-time series.
UK has lost to Ole Miss just four times in 29 matchups since the turn of the millennium. Only once has Ole Miss even topped Kentucky in back-to-back games; those contests were the second- and third-ever matchups, in 1927 and 1928, respectively.
As has been the case in every SEC game for the Wildcats this season, however, the Rebels should pose a tough test tonight. Ole Miss is 16-6 overall and 5-4 in SEC games. The Rebels also are 10-2 at home, with their setbacks to a pair of ranked squads: Texas A&M (by one point, 63-62, in January) and Auburn (a 92-82 winner last week).
UK, led by first-year coach Mark Pope, is 15-6 and 4-4 in the SEC. It’s No. 14 in the latest editions of the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings. Ole Miss is No. 25 in the AP poll but dropped out of the coaches rankings after the 10-point defeat to Auburn.
Here’s what you need to know to follow today’s game from home:
UK and Ole Miss are slated to tip off at 7 p.m. ET today at The Pavilion.
Betting odds: Kentucky is a 3 ½-point road underdog (-112) on DraftKings, which set the over/under at 157 points (-112). The money line odds are Kentucky +145, Ole Miss -175.
