Make that two booms for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats on Wednesday. First, it was Dayton sharpshooter Koby Brea. Now, West Virginia transfer Kerr Kriisa is joining in on the action, the ninth official addition this offseason.
The 6-3 guard out of Estonia is set to be a fifth-year senior following stops at Arizona (2020-23) and West Virginia (2023-24), his final season of eligibility. Known as a top-flight shooter coming off a career season from beyond the arc where he knocked down 42.4% of his threes on 6.3 attempts per contest.
This past season at WVU, Kriisa averaged a career-high 11.0 points to go with 4.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds per contest on 42.9% shooting and 42.4% from three. He’s posted career averages of 9.7 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds on 37.5/36.8/78.8 shooting splits.
Overall, he’s started 93 games between his two stops in Tucson and Morgantown, drilling 238 career threes while also being a key piece on Arizona’s 33-win team in 2021-22 that won the Pac-12 and earned a No. 1 seed.
Kriisa becomes the seventh portal addition for the Wildcats, joining Brandon Garrison from Oklahoma State, Otega Oweh from Oklahoma, Lamont Butler Jr. from San Diego State, Amari Williams from Drexel, Koby Brea from Dayton and Andrew Carr from Wake Forest. Four-star freshmen Collin Chandler and Travis Perry round out the nine-man group for Pope.
