When it comes to picking somewhere to jet off on holiday, Benidorm is often a popular choice with Brits.
Holidaymakers often head there to soak up the sun, but you may want to be careful when visiting the beach. That’s because one man has issued a stark warning to travellers about fines they could face.
Frank, aka frankthestagman on TikTok, often shares travel tips online when he’s not planning stag and hen parties, and his latest advice may save you a lot of money.
In the clip he warned people about how you can end up out of pocket if you visit a beach in Benidorm at night. It’s something all potential visitors should be aware of.
He said: “You can get heavily fined if you’re found on the beach at night after hours. Being honest with you, I’ve never seen, or known of anyone, who’s ever had an issue with that.”
Frank also said some people head to certain parts of the beach to get a little “naughty”, but he stated this can also cause problems. This is because there are criminals known as the “serpientes” who crawl under the deck chairs to steal people’s belongings, such as phones and wallets.
He said this can often happen when people go late night swimming, and it’s something people should be aware of. If you do this, he said there’s a “very big chance” you will lose your possessions.
“The people that do that sort of stuff target people that are going down onto the beaches at night for fun,” added Frank. “And, of course, those who are going skinny dipping, so be warned.
“It’s a proper serious warning, because there are people who do it night after night as they’re out there to steal your stuff.”
So, there are two things to remember when visiting the beach at night. Firstly, there’s a chance you could be fined and secondly, you need to be cautious when it comes to your belongings.
Since the video was shared it’s been liked more 100,000 times, and one person admitted their sister got robbed on the beach at night.
One person said: “I never knew this. We always loved going and sitting on the beach at nightime where it’s peaceful, looking up at the sky.”
Another added: “Wait what, you get fined for going to the beach at night?” A third replied: “Happened to me. A serpiente stole my bag, phone, cash, bank card – all gone.”
But others weren’t as concerned by the warning. A fourth TikTok user commented: “Me and my siblings went swimming at night. Was one of the best holidays of my life.”
