The Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week has once again made sure a highly prestigious name will be featuring on its programme. After previously collaborating with renowned fashion houses like Giambattista Valli, Viktor & Rolf, and Elie Saab, the upcoming edition of the celebrated bridal event revealed on October 10 that iconic British fashion house Vivienne Westwood will headline the 2025 Barcelona Bridal Night.
The presentation, scheduled to take place on April 24, will be a special moment for Vivienne Westwood, as it will mark the first runway show exclusively dedicated to the brand’s bridal line. The collection, entitled “Vivienne Westwood Bridal Collection 2026,” will consist of 30 new couture bridal designs that will be unveiled within the grand setting of the Cloister of the University of Barcelona. Choosing this historic venue, an emblem of 19th-century Catalan architecture, reflects the brand’s desire to blend tradition with modernity and to emphasise the timeless elegance that characterises its creations.
Known for its punk style, revolutionary spirit, and commitment to activism, the Vivienne Westwood brand has been creatively driven for decades through the close collaboration between Vivienne Westwood and her husband, Andreas Kronthaler, who took over as creative director before her passing in 2022. The label, which has dressed iconic brides like singer Miley Cyrus and Sarah Jessica Parker in her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the TV series Sex and the City, was also honoured during last year’s Barcelona Bridal Fashion Awards.
Commenting on the participation of the British house, Albasarí Caro, the director of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, expressed her enthusiasm: “Having Vivienne Westwood as our guest of honour is a privilege and an invitation for the most daring and bold brides. It’s a significant honour not only for the event itself but also for the city of Barcelona.” With a strong focus on internationalisation and expansion, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week has been working tirelessly to establish itself as a key player in the bridal sector across Europe, striving to position Barcelona as a fashion capital on the global map.
“We couldn’t have a more fitting brand to represent the 2025 edition, which will be guided by themes of art, creativity, and sustainability—values that we share wholeheartedly with the iconic British house that has been instrumental in redefining the role of fashion and its connection to the broader social and environmental context,” Caro emphasised.
Brigitte Stepputtis, the head of couture and bridal design at Vivienne Westwood, also expressed her excitement about the opportunity to stage Vivienne Westwood’s “first bridal collection presentation on a runway” next April. “The show we will present in Barcelona will celebrate femininity and individuality. In Vivienne’s words, ‘My clothes allow you to project your personality, giving you the chance to express yourself,’” Stepputtis noted in the official statement.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona, with support from the Department of Enterprise and Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week will once again gather key players from the bridal fashion industry at the Montjuïc venue. Running from April 23 to 26, the event will feature a selection of runway shows from 30 leading bridal designers and brands. In parallel, from April 25 to 27, the professional trade show will host around 360 international exhibitors specialising in bridal fashion, evening wear, and accessories.
