Facilities used in nuclear fusion projects at risk as University of Huddersfield cuts 200 jobs
The University of Huddersfield will no longer host national nuclear research facilities as the institution looks to cut 12 per cent of its workforce due to financial pressure.
On 24 April, the university’s vice-chancellor, Bob Cryan, informed staff there would be a major restructuring affecting all areas of its operations. Cryan said factors including a decline in international student enrolments and rising pension costs were to blame.
