University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) is delighted to launch the UK’s first football scouting-related Master’s degree course, MSc Scouting and Recruitment in Football.
The postgraduate course, which is available at both UCFB Wembley and UCFB Manchester, has been designed with expertise from industry practitioners in scouting and recruitment, as well as academic experts who are active within the sector.
Scouting and recruitment is a specific area in football which has rapidly grown throughout the 21st century, and continues to do so, and so UCFB formed this course to reflect this incredible growth within the sports industry.
The MSc Scouting and Recruitment in Football course encompasses all that is required to be successful within this field and offer a perspective to the industry that is not only research informed, but is generated from the shared experiences of the experts the students will be around.
In addition to numerous partners we work with, students will also be taught by recognised professionals within this field, including scouts who have worked at top Premier League clubs and at international level, across both the male and female game.
In terms of the content of the course, students participating in this programme will be introduced to the various facets of scouting and recruitment, through modules focused on the identification, selection, retention, and securing of talent.
Alongside these key stages, students will have the opportunity to develop their skills in presenting scouting information through media-based, interactive platforms, allowing them to enhance both their practical abilities and interpersonal communication skills—valuable assets that go beyond the scope of traditional degree programmes.
To support informed decision-making and a robust approach to the recruitment process, students will also employ methods such as data analysis, enabling them to rationalise their choices and view the entire scouting and recruitment journey from a comprehensive, holistic perspective.
The modules on the course include:
