Travel expert Will Sarson has revealed his top six European destinations that every keen traveller “should see at least once”.
Sarson, from Riviera Travel, shared his ultimate bucket list of little-known activities and destinations in Europe. He believes these are the “incredible landmarks that everyone should see at least once”.
The Netherlands is a favourite among tourists, with its iconic tulip fields being a major draw. But where can visitors capture the most stunning photos? Sarson recommends the Keukenhof Gardens.
He said: “Experiencing the magic of Keukenhof Gardens is a must for any travel bucket list. To fully appreciate the garden’s truly spectacular displays, plan your visit during the peak bloom season, which runs from mid-April to mid-May.
“The meticulously designed floral displays and serene landscapes offer an enchanting experience that is truly unforgettable.”
The travel expert ranked the “seductive” Spanish town of Seville among his top travel destinations. He enthused: “With its magnificent Gothic cathedral, elaborate Plaza de Espana and warren-like maze of narrow streets, you’ll be captivated by Seville’s beguiling beauty and Andalucian charm.
“Seville is one of many Spanish cities bursting with culture, but it’s definitely one that everyone should experience at least once during their lifetime!”
As winter approaches, Sarson also recommends Germany’s enchanting Christmas markets, particularly praising Cologne, Rudesheim, and Koblenz. He raved: “No other country creates such a festive, fairy-tale setting, with row upon row of traditional wooden stalls enticing you to buy decorations, gifts and treats.”
For those with Iceland on their bucket list, Sarson confirmed that the iconic Blue Lagoon is a must-visit. He detailed: “This wonderful geothermal spa uses hot mineral-rich water from nearby underground springs, allowing you to relax, soak up your scenic surroundings and let your body reap the benefits.”
The travel expert enthused about Vienna, describing the State Opera House as a must-see and must-hear destination: “Classical recitals of both composers’ work can be enjoyed at various musical venues. However, attending the Vienna State Opera House to listen to The Magic Flute or The Marriage of Figaro is one for the bucket list a not-to-be-missed experience for any music lover.”
Portugal is also on his radar, particularly the timeless tradition of sipping Port in its namesake city, Porto. Nestled near Portugals Duoro valley, famed for producing the exquisite fortified wine, the country’s second-largest city has much to offer.
Sarson urged visitors to savour Port tastings as “there’s a wealth of port cellars and wine houses” waiting to be explored.
