National Rail made the following statement, it said: “Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services will be disrupted in the East Croydon area.
“Southern and Thameslink services will not be able to call at this station at short notice. There could also be some other service changes.
“We recommend you do not travel to or from this station until it reopens. However, to help you with your journey, the following arrangements are in place:
“Some Thameslink trains will call at Norwood Junction instead of East Croydon (mainly services between Brighton and Cambridge or Bedford, in both directions)
“Some Southern services to & from London Victoria will call at Selhurst instead of East Croydon
“South Croydon will be served by the normal services which call there
“You may also use your ticket on routes via West Croydon at no extra cost. This includes Southern and London Overground.
“London Buses will accept tickets in the local area, but bus routes may also be disrupted by this.
“Please leave at least 30 minutes of extra time if you need to use another route.
“Trams are not running in the East Croydon area and we do not recommend you use their services as an alternative.”
