This UK beach is a stand out coastal spot in England due to its unique characteristics which tourists say are like something from a film set.
Dungeness Beach in Kent is known for its beautiful coastal views and for being a popular coastal walk in the south east.
Visiting the shingle beach has been named as one of the best things to do in Dungeness by Time Out.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Wasn’t quite sure what to expect (other than the power station). Great place to wander round.
“It’s very peaceful – a bit off the beaten track. At times it feels like a forgotten about film set. A huge expanse of shingle beach – saw quite a few people sea fishing.”
The beach is characterised by its surreal quality, it sits between two lighthouses and you can see Dungeness nuclear power station from its sands.
Visitors often tell of the stark and fascinating nature of the beach and how it is unlike any other they have been to.
It is located at the southernmost point of Kent’s coastline, close to Romney Marsh Nature Reserve.
Dungeness Beach is also known for its wide range of biodiversity and wildlife that have made a home in the area.
Another visitor on Tripadvisor said: “The cab driver the night before suggested we should go to Dungeness if we wanted something different – and it was.
“It’s very bleak, there’s a disused nuclear reactor, people’s homes are few and far between – you really feel as if you’ve stepped onto a movie set.
“It’s really atmospheric and there are a couple of good eateries.”
Dungeness is only a short distance from the medieval town of Rye and Camber Sands, two popular East Sussex tourist destinations.
Although it may not be as well-known as its neighbours, it is a unique and unusual place to visit on a day out in Kent.
If you’re hoping to visit, Dungeness is just over two hours away from London – it is located around half way between Dover and Hastings.
