If you’re looking for an archetypal fishing village then this stunning location could be the one for you.
Mevagissey is a small village in Cornwall famous for its gorgeous harbour and abundance of little fishing boats.
The picture-perfect location also boasts an abundance of places to eat and drink to your heart’s content.
Despite its village status, it was also deemed one of the UK’s “best small towns” by travel publication Fodors Travel, which revealed that you may be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or two.
It also revealed some of the village’s top places to visit including Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissey Museum.
It said: “For the adventure seekers, why not treat yourself to a dolphin-watching trip on the Mevagissey to Fowey Ferry?
“Offering spectacular views across the sea and a chance to watch playful dolphins in their natural habitat.”
The village is also an extremely popular location with tourists, many of whom have taken to the travel review site TripAdvisor to talk about their experiences when visiting.
One said: “Mevagissey Harbour is very pretty, it is everyone’s idea of how a Cornish fishing village should look.
“The village has both an inner and outer harbour and the most picturesque photos are to be had in the former.
Another said: “This harbour is a delight. Pretty shops and cafes fringe this working harbour housing an eclectic mix of small, old, new and large working boats.”
Meanwhile, another tiny Cornwall village has made the headlines as it’s up for sale for a remarkable price.
It boasts several pubs, dozens of shops and scores of quaint cottages clustered around a harbour – and you can own all this for just £725,000.
However there’s one almighty catch – it’s only a scale model village.
Lee Gregory’s parents bought the Polperro Model Village as a retirement business and he took it over when he was in his 30s.
He told Express.co.uk: “It’s been great life – but it’s time to do something different now all our kids have grown up.”
