A passenger has allegedly urinated in the aisle of a Ryainair plane bound for Tenerife.
Flight FR3152 was forced to alert the authorities on the Spanish island during the journey from East Midlands Airport to Tenerife South Airport on Monday (November 4).
The crew called for police help after several passengers onboard became rowdy.
A source told Travel and Tour the World that one passenger relieved themself in the aisle.
Ryanair’s spokesperson said the crew called for police assistance after a small number of passengers became disruptive onboard.
They added: “The aircraft was met by local police upon arrival at Tenerife Airport and these passengers were removed. This is now a matter for local police.”
It is not the first time a passenger has urinated on a flight.
Another Ryanair flight was diverted en route to Tenerife from Manchester in September 2022.
That jet was forced to make an emergency stop on the Portuguese island of Porto Santo because of disruptive passengers.
A man reportedly urinated in his seat on that flight, which had been delayed, leading some to suggest the wait meant some passengers spent longer drinking at the airport.
Ryanair’s boss, Michael O’Leary, called for a crackdown on drinking at airports amid a spike in disturbances on planes over the summer.
He recommended limiting the number of alcoholic drinks passengers can consume per trip, telling the Telegraph aggressive incidents were happening every week.
Mr O’Leary said: “We don’t want to begrudge people having a drink. But we don’t allow people to drink-drive, yet we keep putting them up in aircraft at 33,000 feet.
“As long as they can stand up and shuffle they will get through. Then when the plane takes off we see the misbehaviour.”
Ryanair’s boss went on to suggest the issue was often made worse by travellers mixing drugs and alcohol.
