When you’re jetting off for a sun-soaked getaway, there’s always that buzz of anticipation about everything – from the sandy beaches to the balmy weather and the plush hotel comforts.
We all harbour various expectations, but one thing that often crosses our minds is the cost of living it up abroad. A go-to destination for those seeking some winter warmth is the vibrant island of Tenerife.
To give Brit holidaymakers a heads-up on what to expect wallet-wise, a local bar owner has revealed the average cost of a pint. Buddies Bar, which goes by tenerifecocktails on TikTok, recently gave sun-seekers a glimpse into what they’d be shelling out for a round of drinks under the Canarian sun.
The bar confirmed that a pint at their establishment will set you back Є2.50, proudly proclaiming it to be a “very good pint”. They pour a local brew named Dorada, though they also offer Corona on tap.
However, if you fancy a Corona, be prepared to pay up to Є4.50 – a price the barmaid describes as “very expensive”, though it’s a standard rate across other bars in the area too.
For those who prefer bottled beer, there’s a wide selection to choose from, with prices varying according to your pick. A bottle of Dorada is priced at Є3, while opting for a Corona will bump the price up to Є3.50.
In the video, the presenter enthuses: “Still, Є2.50 a pint – that’s about £2.10 for a nice, cold, fresh pint. Clean glass, clean lines, fresh barrels. Local pint, proper Canary Islands.”
The team were keen to highlight that Dorada is crafted right on the Island, ensuring that each pint is a genuine, locally-brewed beverage. And it’s a bonus that it won’t stretch your wallet too much while you’re exploring.
The clip has racked up thousands of views since going live, sparking lively debates in the comment section over the cost.
An enthusiastic individual remarked: “Yeah, Є2.50 is exceptional value. I need to try this place, would like to sit on the roof terrace.”
A second person enthused: “Love Dorada – see you in two weeks.” Meanwhile, a third chimed in with: “Lovely beer, and a good price too. Dorada is amazing.”
In contrast, another commenter suggested that there’d been a slight increase in prices, lamenting: “Only last year you could get pints for Є1 but, going back a few times this year, it seems it’s now averaging at Є2. It’s not much, but it’s a sign of what’s to come in Tenerife I guess.”
