Stoke-on-Trent saw the largest growth in house prices in the UK in 2024, according to a lender’s research.
The study from Halifax found the city’s average house price rose 17.2% to £227,002 in the 12 months to September.
Other areas that saw significant increases include Slough (14.9%), Oldham (14.6%), Bradford (13.1%), Bolton (12.9%), Barnsley (12.6%), Wolverhampton (12.4%) Doncaster (11.6%) Dunfermline (10.8%) and Hamilton (10.3%).
Huddersfield had the biggest fall in its average house price – down 6.6% to £260,498 – while prices in seven London boroughs fell by between 4.9% and 3.2%.
