Stockport County have signed Crawley Town goalkeeper Corey Addai on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old joins the Hatters from their League One rivals after helping the Red Devils gain promotion by winning the play-off final against Crewe Alexandra at Wembley.
The Jamaica-born keeper started out as an Arsenal youth player and after moving to Coventry City went out on a series of loans before spending a season at each of Barnsley and Danish club Esbjerg.
He joined Crawley in 2022 and quickly established himself as first choice, making 45 appearances in all competitions last season.
His 179 saves in League Two last season was the most of any keeper in the competition.
Addai will provide competition for Stockport player of the season Ben Hinchliffe, while County also today signed 20-year-old goalkeeper Max Metcalfe as a “development keeper”.
Director of football Simon Wilson told the club website, external: “We set out this summer to strengthen the goalkeeping department for the long term, and we feel with Corey’s arrival we have taken a big step forward.
“There is no doubt at 6ft 8in that he is a unique profile, but at 26, coming off the back of a strong season with Crawley, we think he is only starting to show his potential and we hope over the next three years we help him realise that at County.”
