Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands, is known for its incredible volcanic landscape and year-round warm weather. In the summer, average highs reach approximately 30C while in the winter, the average high sits at around 21C and there are still plenty of sunny days to enjoy.
Though Lanzarote attracts 2.7million tourists annually, according to the Post Office, prices have dropped by approximately 7.2 percent over the last year.
The report compared the prices for 10 family holiday essentials in 16 popular European resorts by TUI, including lunch and evening meals, snacks, drinks, suncream and insect repellent.
Though some holiday essentials, such as sun cream, remain rather expensive, local beers and wines were highlighted as being rather purse-friendly. Based on these elements, Lanzarote is reported to have experienced the biggest drop of 7.2 percent compared to last year.
In Lanzarote, the report shows the average price of a bottle of beer or lager at a café or bar will set you back £2.17, while a glass of wine is only marginally more expensive at £2.82.
When compared with the average price of a glass of wine or beer in the UK, it’s noticeably cheaper. Based on an analysis from Finder.com, the average price of a pint of beer in a UK bar or pub is £5.17.
The Post Office report found a 1.5-litre bottle of mineral water in a supermarket in Lanzarote is approximately 87p, while a coffee is £1.52.
Meals out are a little more on the expensive side, though will vary depending on the time of day you each. According to the Post Office Family Holiday Report 2024, a two-course lunch for two adults will set holidaymakers back an average of £27.62, while two children’s pizza or pasta snacks will amount to £9.55.
When evening arrives, a three-course family meal including wine and soft drinks will amount to an average of £90.76.
Suncream was one of the most expensive holiday essentials listed, coming in at £11.25.
