Sportswear brand Umbro has linked up with heritage urban subculture brand Slam Jam to unveil an autumn/winter collection entitled ‘Hard Times’.
Celebrating “resilience as a way of life”, the football-based motto promotes “unity in the stands, unity in life”, noting “just like in football, tough times exist and must be overcome with unity and spirit”.
The collection presents an “elevated approach to the heritage” with “shapes, materials, and contrasts that define the look of an ultra-contemporary streetwear wardrobe”.
Collection highlights include an allover print, white Censored Long Sleeve, characterised by extensive overlapping graphics on the front and
back; a classic 2004 England-inspired Umbro Track Jacket, reimagined in a long-sleeve sport style in black and gold; a new Padded Bomber Jacket and Puffy Vest; denim featuring a double leg frayed diamond logo; a Masked Anorak featuring a fresh take on the check pattern; a hybrid sleeves gingham/cotton polo; a reinterpretation of the Umbro 1993 Drill Polo; and an OG logo Masked Hoodie and T-shirt in various colorways.
The collection, designed and distributed by Slam Jam, has been released in two drops at select retailers worldwide.
The Umbro association isn’t the first collab for Slam Jam recently having also linked with footwear brand Clarks Originals to pay tribute to the Two-Tone Subculture, reworking its Wallabee shoe’s style.
