Severe rush hour delays across London Underground network

Major delays are being reported across the main Overground and Underground lines in London this morning.

Faulty trains, damage from leaf fall and a casualty on the tracks have created travel chaos this morning.

The DLR is experiencing severe delays between Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford International due to a faulty train near Canning Town.

Central and Metropolitan lines are also reporting delays ranging from moderate to severe, between Baker Street and Aldgate, as well as Liverpool Street and Epping.

The Mildmay Line runs between Richmond and Clapham Junction and goes to Stratford is at a near halt between Richmond and Clapham Junction and Gospel Oak while crews repair the train.

The Elizabeth Line is also facing minor delays between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow terminals due to a signal failure.

The line is also experiencing issues between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 5, prompting train delays and cancellations which are expected until around 9:00 am.

Major rail disruption at London stations and Gatwick Airport until the end of today

A signalling fault between London Blackfriars and London St Pancras International means Thameslink can run fewer trains until it is fixed.

This causing cancellations and delays of up to 10 minutes to or from London St Pancras International and West Hampstead.

Other routes may take 30 minutes longer than usual.

Affected services include those between:

Brighton / Three Bridges / Gatwick Airport / East Grinstead and Bedford
Brighton and Cambridge
Horsham and Bedford / Peterborough
Three Bridges and Flitwick / Peterborough
Sevenoaks / Orpington / Rainham and Luton
Sevenoaks and Welwyn Garden City
Orpington / Rainham / Sutton (Surrey) and West Hampstead Thameslink
Sutton (Surrey) and St Albans City

Severe delays continue on the London Overground Mildmay line

A faulty train brought the Mildmay Line ground to a halt between Richmond and Clapham Junction earlier today.

Services are still experiencing severe delays as a result.

The rest of the Overground is running as normal.

M1 crash closes two of three lanes in London

Two of three southbound lanes on the M1 are closed after a crash near Cricklewood, north London.

Drivers face delays of 10 minutes.

Traffic is expected to return to normal by 11am.

Travel delays reported across the Underground

Multiple lines on the London Underground are experiencing minor and severe delays this morning.

The DLR is experiencing severe delays between Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford International due to a faulty train in Canning Town.

The Central Line is experiencing minor delays between Liverpool Street and Epping / Hainault due to an earlier train which was faulty.

The Metropolitan Line is reporting delays between Baker Street and Aldgate due to a faulty train at Liverpool Street.

Severe delays on Piccadilly Line

The Piccadilly Line is experiencing severed delays and no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to ‘damage from leaf fall’.

There’s also no service between Arnos Grove and King’s Cross while emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.

A shortage of trains is causing severe delays on the rest of the line as well.

Delays on Thameslink to last until 11am

Those who commute on the Thameslink are facing delays due to a fault with the signalling system between St Pancras and West Hampstead.

Trains are running roughly ten minutes behind schedule, affecting both services running to and from St Pancras and West Hampstead. National Rail said some trains will be cancelled.

Railway used by millions to face ten years of disruptions

One of Britain’s busiest rail lines will close for weeks at a time beginning in 2026 – and will last ten years.

150 miles of the West Coast main line will have overhead wires replaced in the coming years, along with signal upgrades and track replacement to keep things running smoothly.

Stations affected include Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan, Preston, Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith and Carlisle.
