The big names in sports used to have the running market virtually to themselves, but the rise of challenger brands has made it a much more competitive — and interesting — segment. And it’s not only in shoes that innovation is being seen. UK-based Sealskinz, for instance, has just launched what it says is a “revolutionary” running clothing collection.
The performance outdoor gear firm said the Run apparel line for women and men includes jackets, tees and shorts, plus key accessories and is “designed to keep you comfortable and unstoppable in any weather. Featuring ultra-lightweight, high-tech gear, this collection is packed with innovative features that will take your running game to the next level”.
Socks may be a fairly humble product but in this case they’re the stars of the line. The Anti-Blister Running Socks use double-layer technology “to deliver an unparalleled running experience”.
Also in the new offer are the Wymondham Running Hat, said to be “the lightest waterproof foldable cap in the world” and featuring the Sealskinz Aquasealz tech for “superior” waterproofing and breathability, “a foldable peak for easy storage, UV protection of SPF 40+, and reflective details for enhanced nighttime visibility”.
Products retail from £17 for those socks up to £110 for a water-repellent ultra-light running jacket.
