Interesting. That Irish chance before the England goal came from something we didn’t see enough of in the Stephen Kenny era: pressing high, winning the ball and attacking with speed. The finish wasn’t there (we’ve certainly seen that before).
But the sight of an opposition player cutting through the green defence is an achingly familiar sight. Caoimhin Kelleher did his best to keep England out but there was no denying Declan Rice. A soft goal from an Irish perspective.
