LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Reed Sheppard, the consensus National Freshman of the Year last season in college basketball, is entering the NBA Draft and will not be coming back to UK, the player announced in a video via social media.
Sheppard, son of former Wildcats Stacey and Jeff, played in all 33 games last season, averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting a team-best 52.1% from three-point range. The former North Laurel star is projected as a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. He is forgoing his remaining college eligibility.
“I’m so thankful to wear the blue and white jersey,” Sheppard said in the video.
Sheppard said it’s his dream is to play in the NBA.
