FT: Queensland 35-36 Wales
Wales’ season has finally finished, and what a match that was to round it off.
It has been a difficult year for Warren Gatland’s side, who had lost nine straight games before this win over Queensland Reds.
It was almost a 10th straight loss, with Reds hooker Richie Asiata scoring a hat-trick of tries from driving mauls and Mac Grealy scoring two late tries.
But Kieran Hardy’s 79th-minute try proved decisive.
The margin of victory could not have been slimmer, but Wales probably won’t be concerned about that having finally returned to winning ways.
Fiji are up next for Wales, but that is a few months away yet. Now it is time for the Wales players to have a long-awaited rest.
And after today’s pulsating contest, I think a lot of us observers are ready for one too.
Thank you for joining us, enjoy the rest of your Friday and your weekend.
