A little UK city has been named the most beautiful in the world when it’s autumn – but it’s a stunning place to visit all year round.
Bath, in Somerset, has been named the most eye-catching British city during the autumn season by the travel team at Premier Inn.
The beautiful city even topped the world rankings, beating out competition from Chicago in the USA and Cape Town in South Africa to take the number one spot.
One of Bath’s top-rated attraction on Tripadvisor, Bath Abbey’s location has been a place of worship for more than 1,000 years.
A tourist wrote on Tripadvisor: “A beautiful and peaceful space to spend time.” Another said: “Visited more than once. So much to see and appreciate the history and architectural beauty.”
While some tourists have been left disappointed they can’t take a dip in the waters of the Roman Baths, interactive exhibits help to bring the experience to life.
The Baths even have a collection of curse tablets. Irate Romans wrote injustices they’d suffered on the tablet and asked for revenge before throwing them into the Minerva’s Spring.
While tourists can’t swim in the Baths, they can enjoy a spa experience at Bath’s gorgeous Thermae Bath Spa, an adult-only spa that uses the city’s warm, mineral-rich waters.
Britons looking to shelter in a cafe will find plenty of cosy spots. Make sure to sample the city’s famous ‘Bath Bun’, a sweet roll sprinkled with fruit and crushed sugar.
Bath is home to some incredible architecture and it’s one of the reasons the city is a dedicated UNESCO site.
Tourists will recognise filming locations across the city from top shows including Bridgerton, Poldark and The Sixth Commandment.
