The Kentucky Wildcats finally got some good news on the injury status of Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson.
On Friday, head coach Mark Pope met with the media to preview Saturday’s clash with the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.
There, Pope revealed that both Butler and Robinson are upping their practice workload as they inch closer toward a return to game action.
Butler will be doing some “modified” live action in practice, while Robinson will do some skill work.
“Lamont is going to get some live action today. I say live action, (I mean) modified live action,” said Pope. “Jax is going to get some skill stuff today.”
Butler has been working through a lingering shoulder injury that popped up in the win over Tennessee.
Meanwhile, Robinson has been recovering from a wrist sprain suffered in practice leading up to the win over South Carolina.
The fact that Butler is doing some live practice work suggests there’s a slim chance he plays Saturday at Bama. However, it’s more likely he returns next week, either Wednesday vs. the Oklahoma Sooners or Saturday vs. the Auburn Tigers.
As for Jaxson, his status is harder to project, but it appears he should be, at worst, back by the SEC Tournament.
Coming off a second consecutive loss this past Wednesday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to return home Saturday for yet another challenging Top 25 SEC
