Almost two-thirds of passengers flying from Manchester, which is the UK’s third busiest airport, were stuck in a queue for at least 10 minutes in 2023.
Meanwhile, only 30 percent of travellers managed to get through and collect their baggage in less than five minutes.
Elsewhere, Gatwick Airport came top thanks to a fifth of flyers only waiting 10 minutes to get through security.
The study broke the airports down into terminals and found three of Manchester’s coming bottom of the study.
Manchester Terminal 1 was named the worst, with 19 percent of passengers having to wait more than 20 minutes to clear security. This was followed by Terminal 3 at 17 percent and Terminal 2 at 14 per cent. Manchester followed Stansted Terminal 1 at seven percent.
However, this is compared to Gatwick’s North and South terminals which stood at a low one percent.
Heathrow’s recently-refurbished Terminal 4 saw an impressive 68 percent of passengers get through airport security in less than five minutes.
