The “necessary proposals” will put around 270 members of staff at risk of redundancy and forms part of an ongoing review by Pilgrim’s Europe of its operational footprint.
The review seeks to ensure that its sites are fully optimised, in order to help the food manufacturer deliver a “sustainable future for the business and our colleagues”.
In light of the announcement, Pilgrim’s Europe confirmed it would shortly enter a collective consultation with trade union representatives over the package for any workers laid off.
“All those affected will be supported throughout the consultation process, including exploring opportunities for redeployment to other sites within the Pilgrim’s Europe business,” a Pilgrim’s Europe spokesperson said.
“As a market-leading supplier to the meals and snacking categories, Pilgrim’s Europe remains fully committed to investing in, and building on, our 30-year heritage and capability to provide best-in-class service to our customers, and high-quality food solutions to our consumers.”
Pilgrim’s Europe consists of brands such as Moy Park, Pilgrim’s Food Masters, Pilgrim’s UK and O’Kane, which manufacture a range of poultry, beef, pork and vegetarian products.
In March 2024, Pilgrim’s Food Masters announced plans to close the nearby Dean Way site in Southall, a decision that put 260 jobs under threat.
