A POPULAR seaside town in Scotland has been named the best for food and drink in Britain.
Consumer experts placed the picturesque location at the top of the list of places to enjoy a bite to eat.
A survey by Which? quizzed over 5,000 people on their favourite seaside locations.
They were asked to rate everything from stunning views, things to do for visitors and the quality of their golden beaches.
And one Scottish town came first place for their top-quality scran.
People gave it the gold spot for the delicious food and drink available in the town.
The town is already a popular destination with people all over the world.
It is a go-to spot for tourists, students and keen sports fans, but now St Andrews has emerged as the UK‘s top spot for foodies.
The Fife town is already considered the Home of Golf, with its world-famous Old Course a go-to for fans.
It is also home to St Andrews University, which attracts students from across the world.
The town was given a four-star score for food and drink but clocked an impressive overall destination score of 82 per cent.
Several local businesses were mentioned by Which? members for their mouth-watering seafood.
The Grange Inn, a 17th-century farmhouse with stunning views, and seafront eatery The Seafood Ristorante were among those who received a shout-out.
And the news has been received well by local business owners.
Dean Banks, who runs two local eateries Haar and Dune, told The Times: “For food and drink, it offers a variety of fantastic restaurants and bars that use the best local ingredients.
“There is definitely something for everyone when it comes to the food scene here.”
The town has even attracted some celebrity attention to its heralded hospitality scene.
Music legend Justin Timberlake and golf supremo Tiger Woods revealed they want to open their second sports bar in St Andrews.
They opened their first bar under the T-Squared brand in Manhattan, near the iconic Grand Central Station.
The famous duo plan to convert the town’s historic New Picture House cinema.

A BEACHSIDE sandwich maker is offering seagull insurance to customers — because the brazen birds keep snatching toasties out of their hands.
Sam Larg, 39, said regulars at his Cheesy Toast Shack will get their stolen sarnies replaced if they pay an optional 50p charge.
He reckons the hungry raiders feast on up to 30 of his lunchtime favourites daily by divebombing diners in St Andrews, Fife.
Previously he paid for replacement sarnies out of his own pocket but admitted: “It is unreal it has come to this. Seagulls are insane here.
“They are a real pain and a big problem.
“On a busy day customers are standing in line for an hour to get a toastie. And every single day seagulls are stealing them.
“I used to replace them with no questions asked but that’s costing us too much money now. I can’t afford to do it any more.
“The seagull insurance would give them a bit of protection and mean they get a new toastie straight away.”
Sam has also installed eagle-shaped kites and bird-of-prey sound effects to no avail.
And he warned: “People have been left with cut fingers after birds have attacked them.
“It’s not a joke any more. I’m worried it’ll keep customers away.”
News of the superstars potentially bringing the bar to the town was welcomed by some business owners and students who couldn’t wait for them to start pouring pints.
But not everyone is supporting the plans, with some locals fearing the bar would “Americanise” the historic town.
Concerns led to a compromise being made between Fife Council and T-Squared.
Original plans included the 90-year-old cinema to keep one screen for theatrical releases.
But, now the plans will include two out of three screens, including in the main auditorium.
Fife Council officially gave Timberlake and Woods the go-ahead for the bar last month as they granted planning permission for the bar project.
