Parents are being urged to warn their children about a dangerous incident reported at Romford Shopping Centre, where a group of teenage boys allegedly approached young girls with a concealed weapon disguised as a pen.

The Incident

According to a concerned parent, her daughter and her friends were approached by a group of boys who asked them to press the top of a pen hidden in one of the boy’s sleeves. When the girls refused, they were reportedly followed and subjected to verbal abuse and threats.

The parent revealed that the girls sought help from security staff at the shopping centre, who handled the situation effectively. It was later revealed that the “pen” was allegedly a modified device containing a blade that could deploy when the top was pressed.

The parent shared the warning on social media to alert other families, stating:
“I’m so thankful the girls had the sense to say no, but please make your children aware if approached not to press it and to go straight to security!”
