Ihsanullah plays for Multan Sultans and Pakistan National team (X)
Multan Sultans’ fast bowler Ihsanullah known as Matta Express, has flied to UK for advanced medical treatment as part of his rehabilitation process for a persistent elbow injury. This move comes as he aims to recover from the long-term injury and return to full fitness.
There have been murmurs suggesting that the PCB’s (Pakistan Cricket Board) failure to provide the talented fast bowler with suitable treatment may have contributed to the escalation of his injury.
Ihsanullah sustained his injury during the white-ball series against New Zealand in April 2023. Initially, the PCB believed the injury to be minor and incorporated weightlifting and workouts into his recovery regimen.
Unfortunately, these measures proved counterproductive and worsened the injury.
For nearly a year, there was a notable absence of updates regarding Ihsanullah, and he was not included in the PSL squad of Multan Sultans, who later became the runners up of PSL 2024 either.
Following the conclusion of the PSL earlier this month, the owner of Multan Sultans publicly accused the PCB of mishandling Ihsanullah’s recovery process.
According to him, Multan Sultans bore a significant portion of Ihsanullah’s medical expenses. He first addressed this issue through the media and later brought it to the attention of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The PCB and Multan Sultans have taken a significant step in securing the services of UK-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Adam Watts for further treatment of Ihsanullah. The pacer will undergo continued treatment in the UK under Dr. Watts’ care.
