A biker has died after he “lost control” of his motorcycle while out “enjoying himself” on an off-road track, police have said.
Greater Manchester Police said the 19-year-old man was fatally injured in a crash at an off-road motorcycle track on Morley’s Lane in Tyldesley, Wigan, at about 13:55 BST on Saturday.
The force said the man “lost control of his vehicle and left the track, which caused him to be thrown from the motorcycle”.
Appealing for witnesses, Det Con Phil Drummond said officers were “in contact” with the man’s family “to provide assistance”.
A force representative said the man was treated by emergency services but “passed away from his injuries at the scene”.
They said they were keen to speak to “anyone who may have witnessed the incident at the track and has not yet been spoken to”.
Det Con Drummond said the force’s thoughts were “with the family of this young man who was out enjoying himself on a racetrack”.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have video footage to please come forward,” he added.
