The Digger has an exciting opportunity for a journalist to join us on a magazine that punches above its weight. We are looking for a full-time, general news reporter to be part of one of the last news operations in the UK dedicated to court reporting.
We need a hard-boiled general news reporter who is comfortable working in court and on investigations. Can you speak to poor vulnerable souls and top brass with the same attitude? Are you looking for meaningful work where you achieve something worthwhile? It would help if you already know Glasgow and have some knowledge of its crime scene, to be up and running from the word go. For the right candidate, however, a relocation package is also available.
The job involves following up leads, digging into court records, sourcing pictures and dealing with sources. You will ideally have a few years on a newspaper behind you and shorthand is a plus.
For a self-starter, this could also be an opportunity to cross over into news. Step forward if you are tired of sucking up to celebrities and churning out press relases disguised as news…
Salary is £28,000 per annum with 28 days’ holiday, plus pension and an expense account. Promotion to senior reporter and £30,000 within 16 months for the right person. The job hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
Send a covering letter explaining what you can do for us. Email james@the-digger.com
