BATMAN fans will have the opportunity to learn all about their favourite superhero this summer, with a brand new attraction launching in two UK cities.
Props, costumes and even vehicles from several Batman films will be on full display between next month and November in both the north and the south, giving everyone the chance to pay a visit.
The Batman Unmasked exhibit will first open its doors in Manchester on July 16, where it will remain until August 26.
After that, it will move to London and will remain in the capital from September 6 until November 3.
It will feature eight rooms for fans to explore, as well as a gift shop where visitors can pick up some caped crusader memorabilia.
The rooms are all themed and will include the Wayne Manor Library, The Batcave, a Batman Heroes room, The Joker’s Room, the Arkham Maze, a Rogues’ Gallery, a Vehicle Bunker and an interactive space.
The exhibition marks the 85th anniversary of Batman and promises a “never-before-seen collection of original props, vehicles, and costumes direct from the archives”.
Its website claims fans of all ages “will be able to venture into the Batcave and explore Batman films (1989-2022) in this exhibition”.
Fans are also invited to “step into the world of Gotham City”, where they can work their way through each of the eight themed rooms and look at Batsuits, Super-Villain suits, props and weapons.
There will be props from 10 films on display overall.
They include “Batman” (1989), “Batman Forever” (1995), “Batman & Robin” (1997), “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008), “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), “Justice League” (2017), “Joker” (2019) and “The Batman” (2022).
Meanwhile, in London, Robert Pattinson’s Batmobile from “The Batman” and Christian Bale’s Batpod from “The Dark Knight” will be on display.
Batman’s foes will be well-represented as well, with Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy suit, Heath Ledger’s nurse’s uniform, and for the very first time in the UK, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze suit all part of the display.
There will also be several professional photo opportunities as well as a comic book and gaming area.
Tickets for the event will go on sale on June 13.
Anyone wanting to get tickers as soon as possible can now sign up for the waiting list.
Several iconic moments from Batman films were shot in places throughout the UK. Here are some of the best.
Liverpool
St George’s Hall in Liverpool was used as Gotham City Hall in The Batman, while the Royal Liver Building was used for the Gotham City Police Department headquarters, from which Robert Pattinson leapt in the same film.
London
The disused Millennium Mills building at Royal Victoria Dock was the location for the scene in which Robert Pattinson intimidates Colin Farrell’s Penguin.
The Lethaby building on Southampton Row is the old St Martins Central School of Art in London and was used for the internal shots of the GCPD.
Previously, in the Christopher Nolan trilogy of films, the Farmiloe Building in Clerkenwell was used for the city’s police station.
2008’s The Dark Knight also used Battersea Power Station to film an explosive scene with the Joker.
Glasgow
The Scottish city was used in The Batman, with the Necropolis cemetery, Glasgow Cathedral and the Bridge of Sighs all playing a part.
Wales
Henrhyd Falls in the Brecon Beacons was used as the secret entrance to the Batcave in The Dark Knight Rises.
The waterfall is now known as “Batman’s Waterfall” locally, following its star turn.
Tickets start at £26.95, while discounts are available for groups, children aged 2-5 years and concessions, including children 6-15, students, seniors, NHS, and military.
Several Batman fans have already heard the news and have taken to social media to share their excitement.
One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “I cannot wait. Long live the bat!”
Another added: “I really want to go to this!”
