Much of the Kentucky Wildcats’ recruiting focus may be on Caleb Wilson, but he’s not the only top-tier recruit they’re still in the mix for.
In fact, 5-star prospect Nate Ament is the highest-ranked recruit Kentucky is still in the mix for.
On Wednesday, Ament cut his list down to 11 (via On3’s Jamie Shaw), and Kentucky is still in the hunt. BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas are also still in the mix.
Here’s what Ament, On3’s third-ranked prospect, had to say about his interest in Kentucky and how he’s loved watching what Mark Pope has been able to do so far.
“I mean, the first couple of games for them have been insane,” said Ament. “For Coach (Make) Pope to come in as the new head coach and keep Kentucky going like it was with Coach Cal, is insane to see something something like that. Coach Pope has them playing fast, putting up a lot of points, and shooting a lot of threes.”
Ament has not officially visited Kentucky, but there’s still plenty of time for that to occur. One would think it will or won’t happen based on what Caleb Wilson does. Wilson is expected to make a decision sometime this month. If he lands elsewhere, look for Kentucky to go all-in with Ament.
But if that scenario plays out, will it be too late? Ament is widely viewed as a heavy lean toward the Duke Blue Devils.
