We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual for 1 day a week, who is interested in flexible, remote working opportunities to complement their existing commitments. This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in the arts and a desire to work with young people, and a commitment to promoting inclusion and accessibility.
As the Marketing Officer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering an engaging marketing and communication strategy across digital, print, media, and advertising platforms. Working closely with the strategy team, you’ll help raise Hackney Shed’s profile by promoting our workshops, community events, and performances
In this role, you will manage digital marketing and social media, ensuring content is accessible and engaging, while also supporting fundraising campaigns to maximize donations. You’ll collaborate with local media, organisations, and schools to expand outreach and community engagement, all while maintaining consistent branding and messaging. The position also offers opportunities to work with press, manage media enquiries, and create compelling materials that showcase Hackney Shed’s impact.

Hours: 1 day a week (7 hours). Flexible/hybrid working is available. You can manage your hours flexibly but must be available to occasionally attend sessions in order to create content, these can occur in evenings and during school holidays. Locations mainly in Hackney and Homerton
Contract: This is a freelance position. Initial agreement is a 6 months trial period opportunity for extension. You must be self-employed and compliant with HMRC guidelines.
All appointments are subject to: 2 satisfactory references, Evidence of right to work in the UK & an Enhanced Level DBS check or willingness to undertake one.
