The Kentucky Wildcats are getting some extra rest this thanks to a week off in between games vs. Alabama and at Vanderbilt.
Among the players who’ve battled injuries include Lamont Butler, Koby Brea, Andrew Carr, and Kerr Kriisa. While Kriisa isn’t expected to return from his injury anytime soon, Butler, Brea, and Carr have been able to play through their issues while being listed on the SEC injury report at various points in SEC play.
On Thursday, UK head coach Mark Pope met with the media to preview Saturday’s game in Nashville while updating the health status of his team.
“It’s better than it was a few days ago,” said Pope. “That’s for sure. Everybody in the league is going to deal with the same thing, and certainly, we are, too. You’re just scraping away at every single second where you can try and be as healthy as you can. But everybody is gonna play hurt and play with injured guys.
“We’re doing better. I’m really grateful for this week, because it at least helps us make some progress.”
We’ll get a better idea of how much better Kentucky is doing when the Friday injury report comes out ahead of Saturday’s matchup with Vandy. For now, it appears everyone other than Kriisa will be good to go in what’s going to be a dogfight in Nashville between two teams looking to rise up the SEC standings.
