The Kentucky Wildcats are entering a new era for the program as Mark Pope takes over in Lexington.
After building out his staff, now the attention has turned to building out the roster. With three commitments in three days over the weekend, the Kentucky staff is really starting to gain traction with other recruits in the portal as well.
Coach Pope joined KSR Monday morning, and when asked about his thoughts on where the roster stands, he is excited moving forward.
“I’m really excited about where we are today. Putting together a staff and a roster is putting together puzzle pieces, and each one affects the next. We’re working on 29 guys on our big board. I’m elated with where we are. We have a ton of work to do, but we’re close in a lot of areas,” said Pope.
Currently, the roster stands at six players after the additions of Lamont Butler (SDSU transfer), Otega Oweh (Oklahoma transfer), and Andrew Carr (Wake Forest transfer) over the weekend. The staff is still going to work, however, as they are hosting Utah State forward Great Osobor and Dayton transfer Koby Brea for visits this week.
If they can win in both of those recruitments, the BBN might go into a frenzy.
It’s been a fun few weeks. Now, let’s see how they wrap this roster up.
