After Jacquemus in January 2024, it’s now Marine Serre’s turn to drop a collaboration with Repetto. The French designer renowned for her sustainable fashion has reinterpreted a footwear classic, the ballerina, creating new editions of the best-selling Lilouh and Camille shoes, two evergreen ballerinas by French dance-inspired label Repetto, on sale from January 20.
“As a child, I was captivated by the elegant style of Repetto’s ballerinas. In addition, they were manufactured near my home in Saint Médard d’Excideuil. For my sister and I, visiting the factory was a magical occasion, as it introduced us to the world of artisanal craftsmanship,” Serre said in a press release, adding that she was delighted to see her signature half-moon print reproduced on these iconic shoes.
The half-moon, used by Serre since her early days in fashion, looks as though it is embossed on the front of the Lilouh ballerinas, recognizable by the more enveloping, elliptic shape of their uppers. The Lilouh is available in black, red, white and silver, and is priced at €370.
Marine Serre’s famous half-moon pattern is also featured on the Camille ballerinas, which have a slightly raised heel, as opposed to the flat sole of the iconic Cendrillon model. They are available in red, black and white patent leather and in denim fabric, and are priced at €390.
The shoes are all made in the Repetto factory in the Dordogne, France, using a reverse-stitching construction. The Marine Serre x Repetto capsule collection is available at some 60 multibrand retailers that handle Marine Serre, as well as on the Repetto e-shop and stores in Paris (in rue de la Paix, rue des Francs Bourgeois and rue Dufour), at Le Bon Marché department store, and select distributors in Asia.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with Marine Serre, a label whose creativity and commitment to more sustainable fashion perfectly echo our heritage and know-how. This collection is a celebration of craftsmanship and innovation,” said Charlotte Gaucher-Holmann, CEO of Repetto. Gaucher-Holmann has taken over the reins of Repetto from her father Jean-Marc, president and owner of the brand, who passed away in May 2023.
