Eponymous couturier Manish Malhotra has become the first Indian designer to hold a showcase at the ‘Harrods Private Shopping Penthouse,’ a members only club inside the department store in London, UK. The exclusive showcase runs until September 29 and features the label’s ‘World Collection.’
“I am thrilled to be the first Indian designer to be invited to showcase at the Harrods Private Shopping Penthouse,” said eponymous designer Manish Malhotra about the showcase, Elle India reported. “It is an honour to represent India’s incredible artisans and craftsmanship on such a prestigious global platform.”
The collection is designed to reinterpret India’s rich craft history for a global audience. “Through this collection, I hope to showcase the richness of our craftsmanship while bridging India’s traditional aesthetic with contemporary global fashion,” said Malhotra.
The showcase coincides with Harrods’ 175th anniversary celebrations and one of the garments in Malhotra’s collection incorporates the department store’s signature green hue to add to the festivities. The gown is a fusion of Indian glamour and British luxury and blends styles both old and new for London’s diverse shoppers.
In March this year, Manish Malhotra launched ‘The World Collection: Dubai’ exclusively at its Dubai flagship store, the label announced on Facebook at the time. The collection was tailored to an UAE audience with a striking colour palette of black and gold and a mixtures of Indian, Middle Eastern, and fusion style silhouettes.
