Manchester United are without a host of key players when they return to Premier League action against Brentford this afternoon.
Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo all withdrew from international duty last week, returning to Manchester ahead of schedule for assessment.
While Garnacho and Amad trained this week, Mainoo is facing ‘a couple of weeks’ on the sidelines in what serves as a major blow to Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans.
There are also major concerns in defence. Harry Maguire has also joined the injury list with a knee problem he suffered in the goalless draw against Aston Villa last time out. Like Mainoo, he is expected to be ruled out until the start of November.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are still not available for selection but there was some good news concerning Noussair Mazraoui, who was back in training ahead of schedule this week after undergoing a minor heart procedure.
There were are also concerns further up the pitch for Manuel Ugarte who was forced off playing for Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
The midfielder reportedly asked to be substituted after complaining of pain in his right thigh.
Ugarte, who was left among the subs in their last two games against Porto and Aston Villa, has been passed fit, however and is expected to make the squad.
Elsewhere, Mason Mount is also still unavailable.
Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Amad, Fernandes, Rashford, Hojlund
Man Utd vs Brentford kicks off at 3pm on Saturday 19 October.
Given it’s kick-off slot, the Premier League match will not be broadcast live in the UK.
