LVMH is taking its Watch Week to a new location: Los Angeles, with the event scheduled for January 21-24, 2025, in the City of Angels, the luxury group revealed Wednesday.
Nine LVMH watchmaking marques will present their latest horological creations to trade journalists, retailers and select clients from around the world. An event designed to let the French conglomerate’s brands spotlight their unique positioning and expertise via their new timepieces.
However, the announcement comes at a tricky time for the Watches & Jewelry division within LVMH. In the first nine months of 2024, watches and jewelry revenues slumped 5% to €7.536 billion, the worst performance of any division with the exception of wines and spirits, which nosedived 11%. Overall, Paris-based LVMH, which boasts 75% brands within its luxury stable, saw sales fall 2% to just over €60 billion.
Prior to Los Angeles, LVMH Watch Week has been staged in Dubai, Singapore and last year in Miami. The next edition marks its first visit to the West Coast of the United States. The brands that have regularly taken part in this event, which LVMH termed in a release, “a must on the watch industry calendar” include Bulgari, Hublot, Tag Heuer, Zenith, Daniel Roth and Gérald Genta. In January, they will be joined by Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. and L’Epée 1839.
“This sixth edition of LVMH Watch Week in Los Angeles will feature nine of the group’s watchmaking maisons, three of them new to the event, driving further momentum for what has grown into a can’t miss rendezvous for watch aficionados. We’re thrilled at the prospect of welcoming our clients and all our partners at the very start of the year for a display of new timepieces, great surprises and exceptional creations that will mark 2025,” commented Frédéric Arnault, chief executive officer of LVMH watches. Frédéric is the third of four sons and one daughter of Bernard Arnault, the controlling shareholder of LVMH and the group’s chairman and CEO. Frédéric is also Europe’s richest twenty-something.
LVMH did not reveal the exact address of its LA Watch Week, but said it will take place in Bel Air, the high-end residential neighborhood in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains and a district dotted with movie star homes.
Each of the group’s watch maisons plans to host exclusive presentations of their latest products during this sixth edition of LVMH Watch Week in LA, showcasing the creative energy of the group’s watches division, the conglomerate also noted.
