No summertime blues for London Designer Outlet (LDO). The capital’s claimed leading fashion and lifestyle outlet destination has enjoyed its strongest-ever monthly sales performance (outside of December) with August topping £10 million.
That equates to a 12.5% boost on 2023’s other record-breaking August, to “top off a blockbuster summer for the LDO”.
It also adds up to the centre’s best-performing summer on record for June, July and August reaching £28.76 million — which coincided with a programme of major shows at the adjacent Wembley Stadium, including Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, and Green Day.
Concert day sales at the LDO were led by Green Day’s performance at the stadium, reaching £558,550. Bruce Springsteen recorded the second-best sales on its best-performing day (£525,366), and ACDC fans came in third (£472,615) on their highest-recorded day of sales.
The successful summer of sport and music follows a period of consistent growth, with LDO sales “outperforming non-London UK outlets in three out of the last four reported quarters” LDO said, quoting data from CACI’s UK Shopper Dimensions.
It said bargain-savvy fashion fans were drawn to its special promotions, such as VIP week in August, and its “evolving lifestyle and fashion brand offering”, with the recent additions of Ben Sherman and Lids, alongside the upsizing of existing brand Sunglass Hut.
General manager Daniel Tomkinson said: “It’s been a great summer. The demonstratable combination of world-class concerts, dynamic major events programme, and unbeatable offers from our diverse range of brands, has proven to be a winning formula.
“This sales growth speaks to the outlet’s enduring appeal and our commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience for every visitor. We look forward to building on this success as we look to the rest of the year ahead of what is expected to be an even bigger 2025, with a record number of shows planned from Oasis’s comeback tour.”
