Since LIV Golf was launched in 2021, it has created a divide in the golf world. Outside of PGA Tour majors and international events, fans have been unable to see competitors from both leagues compete against one another.
The Showdown is about to change that.
Four of the best players in the world are set to meet in Las Vegas on Tuesday for 18 rounds of golf. PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will go head-to-head against LIV Golf pros Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
Shadow Creek Golf Club in Sin City is the host of the event bringing fan bases of both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf together to enjoy the game.

MGM Resorts’ Shadow Creek Golf Club is set to host the LIV vs. PGA Tour Showdown in 2024. The venue hosted the original Match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in 2018, but it hasn’t been back since.
Wynn Golf Club has hosted three other The Match events throughout its history.
The Showdown between the LIV Golf and PGA Tour pairs is set to be 18 holes, with three different “rounds” to split up the day.
The first six holes will be played as four-balls. In this style of play, each golfer uses their own ball to play the entire hole. However, only the teammate with the lower score counts. Whichever team has the lower score wins the round.
A switch to foursomes will be made for holes 7-12. In this format, each team plays one ball with teammates alternating shots. The group will also switch who tees off the hole, with one player assigned the odd numbers and the other with the evens.
The final six holes will then be contested as two singles matches. It’s not totally clear who will be matched up against one another yet.
After the 18 holes, the team with the most combined points wins the match.
It will be Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka vs. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy for the LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour event.
DeChambeau is coming off a successful 2024 season that saw him collect his second major win, emerging victorious at the U.S. Open. He narrowly missed out on winning the PGA Championship, losing to Xander Schauffele on the final hole.
Koepka did not pick up any major wins in 2024. In fact, he finished outside the top 25 in all four majors on the PGA Tour. However, he is a five-time major champion and is regarded as one of the best golfers in the world.
McIlroy had another successful, yet agonizing season on the PGA Tour. The Northern Irishman won the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowry and then the Wells Fargo Championship. However, his majors drought extended to 10 years, as McIlroy fell apart in the U.S. Open to lose to DeChambeau, settling for second place.
Scheffler could not have asked for a better PGA season. The Texan enjoyed what was one of the most dominant runs the Tour has ever seen, collecting a jaw-dropping seven wins, including his second Masters victory and the Tour Championship, which allowed him to claim his first FedEx Cup.
No exact number has been released for the event, but the prize purse at “The Showdown” is believed to be “at least $10 million,” according to multiple reports.
