Dior has launched a “lifestyle capsule” and campaign and it stars one of menswear’s most popular style influencers, motor racing champion Lewis Hamilton.
The British racer also worked on the creation of the capsule along with Dior menswear designer Kim Jones with Dior saying the offer was “dreamed up by” Jones along with the “guest designer” and Dior ambassador.
It added that it’s “an ode to creativity and the joys of winter” and is “dedicated to seasonal sports such as skiing and snowboarding”. We’re also told it reflects Hamilton’s “passions” and is a fusion of “heritages”.
As for the campaign, shot by Rafael Pavarotti, it’s set against a backdrop of mountain scenery in “magnetic” shades of blue with the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion wearing an oversized shirt paired with wide-legged pants, as well as ski ensembles.
Staring in the offer are also the Dior 8 Backpack and Messenger Rider 2.0 made in “ultra-resistant materials fused with a practical spirit”. The B44 Blade also “completes an original retro-futuristic look, while the B33 sneakers help keep it casual.
Sports stars are increasingly popular not just as the ‘face’ of particular campaigns but as collaborators on collections for high-end brands with multiple labels linking up with the biggest names to produce special edition capsules that will resonate with a high-spending menswear company beyond sports fans.
