Despite the holiday season, it was another basketball-filled slate of games across the Bluegrass last week. A huge chunk of schools played in several games in the days before and after Christmas, some even playing multiple games in a single day. It was the last round of tournaments and classics before we dive into the meat of the regular season.
With so many games happening last week, the result was another significant change in KSR’s latest Top 25 rankings update. Five new schools broke into the Top 25 after not being ranked the week prior. We also saw Lloyd Memorial fall from No. 2 in the state to out of the Top 10 entirely while George Rogers Clark took a similar tumble. Male and Harlan County also received sizable hits to their ranking.
St. Xavier continues to hold down the top spot for the second consecutive week. Kentucky signee Malachi Moreno and Great Crossing sit still at No. 3 as Bryan Station leapfrogged the Warhawks to take control of the No. 2 spot. Marshall County and Green County were the big winners this week with both schools jumping up double-digits in the updated poll.
Others receiving votes: Ashland Blazer (24), Madison Central (13), South Warren (8), Fleming County (6), Adair County (5), Danville Christian Academy (2)
KSR Top 25 voters: Eric Chumbler, Jalen Daugherty, Clark Howell, Troy Howell, Spencer Hutchison, Lovell Martin, Scott Ratliff, Phoenix Stevens
