John Lewis is supporting the rebirth of its ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ (NKU) branding by adding hundreds of beauty offers to its special ‘Black Friday Event’.
Meanwhile, there’s also news that sister brand, supermarket Waitrose, is again partnering with Lulu Guinness for a limited edition Christmas gifting range.
But first those Black Friday beauty offers which include up to 20% off key brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, NARS, Clarins. The NKU return promise includes price matching that “gives customers confidence that they are getting fantastic value”.
The major gifting focus for John Lewis comes “as more shoppers [are] expected to use Black Friday to blitz their Christmas lists”, it noted.
The offers also include the retailer offering more payment options “to support customers with spreading the cost of Christmas.
It said there will also be around 3.4k more Click & Collect options to give customers more flexibility.
John Lewis said among its best selling fragrances of Black Friday so far are TikTok favourites Kilian Paris’s Angels’ Share and Maison Margiela’s Replica Jazz Club
Quoting insights consultancy Trinity McQueen, John Lewis said that last year, two-thirds of Black Friday shoppers were using the event to purchase Christmas presents, compared to 58% in 2022.
“This was particularly true for Black Friday shoppers aged 35-54, with nearly three-quarters purchasing Christmas gifts in last year’s event”, it said.
For the first time, new brands to John Lewis including Sol de Janeiro, Forever New, Numph, Ghospell, Oura, Meta x Ray-Ban and others will be part of John Lewis’ Black Friday event.
And that limited edition Lulu Guinness collab? Well, it’s a third partnership and this time the gifting range includes new tote bag (£15), which has already launched in both John Lewis and Waitrose stores, while the accompanying reusable coffee cup (£7) and drinks bottle (£12) will be available at the end of November.
The new tote bag is made from recycled plastic bottles and is adorned with Lulu’s signature red lip motif, and two varying lengths of sturdy woven straps.
Tim Shaw, Non Foods buyer at Waitrose, said: “The collection has been designed once more with durability and sustainability in mind, and this time the tote comes with a detachable coin purse featuring Lulu’s signature red lip motif.”
Guinness added: “This time, I wanted to make the design all about our iconic lips, creating a fun and cheerful print that cascades across the tote like snowflakes.”
