JOCKEY Alice Procter was rushed to hospital after suffering a nasty fall from her horse.
The 21-year-old was unseated by Uggy, Uggy, Uggy in a female riders’ handicap hurdle race at Cartmel on Saturday.
Procter – the daughter of Doug and Lucy Procter – was promptly airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital.
She is currently in intensive care with her loved ones.
An Injured Jockeys’ Fund statement read: “Amateur jockey Alice Procter had a fall at Cartmel Racecourse yesterday and immediately reported back pain.
“She was flown by helicopter to the major trauma centre at Royal Preston Hospital.
“Following scans, she was then taken to the operating theatre under the care of the spinal team.
“She is now in the ICU with her family in attendance.
“Further updates will be issued in due course.”
The racing community took to social media to wish Alice a speedy recovery.
One wrote on X: “Hope Alice Procter is ok tonight after her fall.”
Another said: “Hope you’re on the mend soon, Alice.”
And another said: “Our thoughts are with jockey Alice Procter who was airlifted to hospital after suffering a heavy fall at Cartmel.”
One remarked: “Fingers crossed for a full recovery in due course.”
Another chimed in: “Best wishes, Alice.”
The two remaining races of the day were delayed by more than an hour as medics gave Alice treatment.
Alice, who rode her first point-to-point winner in March 2022, was trained by her boss Keiran Burke.
