It would appear the winds have shifted in the recruitment of Caleb Wilson.
While the Kentucky Wildcats have been seen as the favorites for several months, the North Carolina Tar Heels were long viewed as a serious threat.
Now, it appears the Heels may have jumped into the lead.
In a recent update from On3’s Jamie Shaw, he wrote that momentum is in favor of North Carolina, enough that he’s close to logging an official prediction for the Heels to win out.
“While I have not placed an RPM just yet, based on the latest Intel I have received, I am close to putting one in for the Tar Heels to ultimately land Caleb Wilson,” Shaw wrote.
This would be a tough pill to swallow for Kentucky, but it would leave Kentucky with more NIL funds to be more active in the transfer portal this offseason.
Still, this would really sting, as it appeared Mark Pope had Kentucky on the verge of landing the program’s first top-five recruit under his watch.
Regardless of how this plays out, this recruitment is expected to end sometime in January, so at least there’s that. Let’s see if Pope and Co. can win this.
